A simple guide to making 15mm bunkers 1/2

Want some pudding with your Sunday lunch? Harvey pulls it out of the knapsack again to produce this simple guide on how to make fantastic looking bunkers on the cheap:

No excuses now lads, raid the kitchen!

  • Fantastic tutorial… guess what I’ll be doing this afternoon!

  • Great idea! Fairly simple to make and the results look fantastic.

  • Excellent! Only thing I can think of to improve this would be to have an MG barrel poking out the front or even a team inside (but that’s just being pedantic) so four MP40s plus another for the raiding the kitchen comments and glueing your fingers together like a proper ModelDad = 5/5

  • Go go Model Dads – the professional amateurs πŸ™‚ !

    • well dunno about you guys but part of being a model dad is the amateur bit – cos we’ve got kids waking us up in middle of the night and somehow there’s always some interesting microbeasts to look at or a trip to a farm to go on and modelling gets pushed to the bottom of the list; having said that BeautifulOther’Arf says I’m allowed to go make stuff some nights – I think she thinks I can’t be upto any mischief if in the den and not dahn t’pub.
Glueing fingers together is just part of the joy of creation – I’d like to submit another for the list of Joys: when dropping a small irreplaceable component off of the work space quite often, if the reflexes are good enough, it is possible to catch the escapee between your thighs – however DO NOT do this when replacing the scapel blade in your knife and it pings off…..
It’s that sort of acquired wisdom you don’t get on the “professional” sites

      • I do this! I do this! I’ve caught numerous tank commanders this way. Or not…

        • Funnily enough last night I had this very thing happen to me – about an hour after reading Mark’s post.

I was sitting ‘doing my Panthers’, and a part loaded brush tumbed towards my lap.

My decision? My legs snapped shut.

The outcome? A pair of jogging bottoms that now bear the dark green colour of Panzers from 1945 Czechoslovakia.

  • Very nice! Actually, I have all the materials laying around and may give this a shot πŸ™‚

  • A nice aspect of Harvey’s creation is that is mainly made from everyday materials.

If you’ve attempted a bunker from this tutorial, can you consider posting your results here with photo (even if you are not happy with them and/or made changes to Harvey’s approach). We would all love to see them πŸ™‚

    • Good idea. If you have problems hosting, send them to us and we’ll post them in a seperate blogette (thats a technical term by the way!).

  • p.s. are there any rear shots of the MG nest to show the entrance?

I’m begining to build up the resources but the thing is the only place do FOW is hobbycraft and that is a 30 minute trip from my house and they don’t have the greatest selection in the world

    • How about a polite word with mum or dad. They might put something on the credit card if you give them the cash πŸ™‚

  • Follow up: si’s bunker

  • Im not really a dad (im more of a thirteen year old) but i just started FoW (with a pal) and i was wondering can you fit a pak 43 in one of these or do i need to make a new base and use more skewers?
